While learning printmaking techniques, I gained access to a laser cutter/engraver and utilized its ability to create intricate details. Using traditional woodcut methods to execute graphic computer art was an interesting and complicated task.
This poster came to life in Adobe Illustrator as a tribute to my photography partner. His pseudonym, Red Bandana, presented a unique subject, so I compiled many personable aspects into the design. Incorporating local landmarks into the silhouetted sky, I emphasized his love for the city of Spokane.
The font and pattern were hand drawn to achieve a messy aesthetic effective in communicating his grungy photo style. After completing the work, I surprised him with a copy and enjoyed his ecstatic reaction.
